Aren't They Cute!

I know this is a crazy quilt blog, but I couldn't resist! This is a picture of my two littlest ones. They made their own card for Father's Day and this is the picture they used. They say they are in their 'skins' because they have no shirts on! (Yes, they do have pants on.....)

A couple of you asked what fabric I used for my Mommy's Ties square. I used pink ties! I had been collecting them for something else I was going to do, but I used them for this instead. Don't get in my way when the pink ties go on sale...anywhere I can find them!

Talk to you later,

Mommy's Tie's Block #2

Here is block #2 for Mommy's Ties. I know that in my last post I said I was going to do 2 of these and make a needlecase/book, but I am having so much fun doing these! I am considering doing 6 of them and making a small quilt instead. I don't know what do you think? Only a couple of weeks until I go to Maine! I think I have this class down....Now on to study up for Crazy Quilt 101 and Crazy Quilt 201.

Talk to you later,

Mommie's Tie's Block is Done!

I finally have the Mommies Ties square I posted last time done. I am busily working on the second one in the same colors so I can make a needlecase/book out of the two squares.

See you later!

My Mommy's Ties Block

Here is my first block I have made using a pattern written by Carole Samples called Mommy's Ties. Last year when she came to teach at my Victorian Stitchery Retreat she taught this class. I didn't take the class and of course, now this is one of the classes I will be teaching in Maine for her. I carefully read through the pattern and talked to her a couple of times with some questions and voila..here is my square. Of course I had to use pink ties, that being my favorite color! I am anxious to begin embellishing it! I made two of them because I want to make a larger sized needle case with them. Part of the curriculum for the class is learning to make your own "needlelace" to embellish the top of the fan. I'll keep you posted on what I end up designing for my "lace".

The Pink Bunny Goes on an Adventure

Here is a picture of an embroidered monogram that I did for a class awhile back. It is in the center of a larger crazy quilt piece. I'll try to post the whole square next time!

Now for news on my great adventure! Carole Samples was to go to Maine in July to teach for the Pine Tree Quilt Guild. Due to health reasons she is unable to go. She graciously asked them if I could come and teach her classes. After a few phone calls they decided to let me come! At the end of July I will be going to Maine to teach her classes! Thank you Miss Carole and the Pine Tree Quilt Guild for giving me this opportunity! Also, thank you to Betty Pillsbury for the wonderful recommendation you gave me!

The bottom picture is the sixth square I have pieced for the 2010 MCC Crazy Quilt which will be a Valentine Theme quilt.

New MCC Blocks for 2010

I am back with new squares for the 2010 MCC Quilt we are making. This year we a going to make a Valentine Theme Crazy Quilt. This quilt is inspired by Miss Carole Samples herself! The quilt for 2009 was auctioned off on April 18 and it sold for $1,700. A member of our round robin group that helped make the quilt purchased it. We know that it is at a home where it will be taken care of and treasured! The new square are pictured here. The burgundy reds kind of scan dark, they really are a pretty burgundy.
