What I have been up to....

So, I haven't blogged in a couple of weeks and I thought I would give you an update on what I have been working on.  I have continued to work on my cross wall hanging and it is really shaping up!

Here is a close up of the flowers that I did in silk ribbon on the cross.  They are a bullion tipped lazy daisy and it is so much fun to do them with silk ribbon.  They remind me of lilies which is what I was going for.

I have also been working on a Double Wedding Ring quilt.  After working on this one for over a month, I have found that a Double Wedding Ring quilt is not for sissies!  I'll just say that using striped fabric has caused some reverse sewing on more than one occasion!  (A lack of planning an overall design may have caused a little reverse sewing also!)  After I work on this quilt for a day or so, I have to get back to crazy quilting just to keep my sanity!  Does that make sense...not sure....

The Joyful Embellishment group that I started is going very well!  We have over 400 members and I have been so inspired by all the work being done by all the members of the group.  The photo above is a collage of the stitches we did on the third week and the photo below is a collage of the stitches we did on the fourth week.

If you would like to join  in, you may do so at anytime!  It is never too late and this month we are working on 20 different variations of the herringbone stitch.

At the end of each month, I have a drawing to give a lucky winner of the group some goodies and this month's winner was Robin Waybright!

Second Week of Joyful Embellishments!

This is a collage of the second week of Joyful Embellishment stitches.  We are having a great time and I just love seeing all the other stitches that are being done by other members of our group!

Here is an update on the project that I am working on.  The whole idea of the Joyful Embellishments group is this:  if you do one seam a day, 5 days a week, by the end of the year you will have 260 seams done!  Depending on how big your crazy quilt is, you could complete a whole one in just one year.

If you would like to join us, it isn't too late!

Joyful Embellishments First Week!

I had a little fun making a collage of the stitches we covered in the first week on my Face Book page, Joyful Embellishments.  The members are also posting pic's of their version's of the stitch of the day.  It has been alot of fun and I have been so impressed with everyone that has joined.  Anyone is welcome to join in the fun!

New Year, New Project

Last year, I did a lot of finishing, including some projects that I had for 10 years!  I decided to reward myself with starting a new project.

Over the years, I have donated 4 of these wall hangings to charity.  The first year, this one was auctioned off for $700!  I decided it was time I made one for myself....

So, I went through all my fabric stash and came up with these colors.

Then, I auditioned the fabrics for the cross...I had 4 different ones in the running.  I decided the one in the above picture was just too dark!

So, now it is all pieced and I have all my supplies ready to go.  I always put all the supplies I am using for a project in one box, then it is there all in one place.  I probably won't use even half of the stuff in there, but a girl has to have options!

I also decided to start a new Face Book group, Joyful Embellishments.  I had been thinking about it for awhile and I decided the New Year was a great time to start.  I will be posting stitching ideas Monday through Friday for the entire year in this group.  By the end of the year, there will be 260 stitch ideas to use!  To sweeten the deal, if you join the group and stitch along with me, you will be entered into a drawing for crazy quilt goodies!  The drawing will happen once a month.
